Every external tile request must include an active Bathymetry API key. Keys belong to your customer account and subscription.
Get an API key
- Sign in and open Dashboard → API Keys.
- Choose Create initial API key.
- Copy the key immediately and store it securely. The full value is shown only once.
Authenticate a request
Use HTTPS and send exactly one external credential. Server-side clients may use the X-API-Key header:
X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEYFor map libraries that require a URL template, use the key query parameter instead:
https://tiles.1224tools.com/v1/{z}/{x}/{y}.png?key=YOUR_API_KEYDo not send both forms in the same request.
Do not place an API key in a public repository, screenshot, support message, or application log. If a browser application must request tiles directly, restrict where you expose the surrounding application and rotate the key if it may have been copied.
Lost or exposed keys
Open Dashboard → API Keys and choose Rotate key. Save the replacement, verify it in your application, then revoke the old key. Choose Emergency revoke when the old key must stop immediately. Rotation does not change your subscription or usage history.
Authentication responses
- 401: the key is missing, invalid, expired, or revoked.
- 429: a request rate limit or the billing-cycle hard limit was reached.
See Errors for response details.
